I am deeply saddened to have learned about the death of Andy Hankins,who had such a huge impact on the local food movement and biological farming in Virginia. Andy was a friend with a wonderful spirit, always approachable. He had such an impact on the growth of the Virginia Biological Farming Association; the coordination of speakers and funding. He gave me a VSU School of Agriculture hat at the VABF 2011 conference and as usual we had several wonderful conversations. It seems like yesterday that he was at my farm doing some filming for a segment on high tunnel production. My prayers and thoughts go out to his family.
