The family has asked that in lieu of flowers and other items, please consider making a contribution to the “Andy Hankins Internship/Scholarship Fund” which is being established for agriculture students at Virginia State University. Details for contributing to this fund will be initially shared during the Memorial Service. After which, there will be further communication for individuals who are unable to attend the service.

Thoughts
I was deeply saddened to hear of Andy's passing. He was one of the first Extension people who made friends with me as I was working in the sustainable agriculture movement in the 90s. Now as I am working on the Southern SAWG conference for 2014, I am thinking of him again and missing his thoughtful advice for program topics and presenters. Andy's work and spirit will carry on in all of us. - Keith Richards

I just read of Andy's passing today. I am shocked and saddened. His work on earth is done. He did an EXCELLENT job at teaching me and many others! I will miss you Andy and never forget you.

I read an article by Andy about cut flowers several years ago and I began growing flowers to market. I called Andy numerous times and he was always so kind and helpful. I will miss him and his expertise immensely. Vickey Sanderson, North Carolina

We were blessed to know Andy and have him as a friend. Every time a bluegrass tune gets me up and stomping, I think of him. A gentler, kinder soul could not be found. We send our love and condolences to his family and friends.
