Greenstone Fields 21st November 2012

I would not be a farmer if it weren’t for Andy. He had a vision, and received a grant, for creating Virginia cut-flower farmers. I was one of those farmers and his vision continues to inspire me. Andy had an indisputable way of showing people that they could do things they had never thought they could do. When Andy delivered the first batch of seeds, plugs, shrubs, and drip tape, I had no idea what I was getting in to. But Andy did. He also noticed that we had a fair amount of woods and suggested we grow shiitake mushrooms. We now grow and sell almost two acres of cut-flowers, have hundreds of shiitake logs, and hopefully some ginseng plants because of Andy! He was indeed a farming angel. We are lucky to have been touched by his magic and to be a small part of his very grand legacy.
